Michael A. Lucia, MD, DABSM
Dr. Lucia is originally from Alabama where he earned his undergraduate degree from Spring Hill College and completed medical school training at The University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Ohio State University and Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and a fellowship in Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC.
Dr. Lucia moved to Reno, NV in 1999 to pursue his career in an environment that affords a wonderful quality of life. He joined the University of Nevada School of Medicine faculty in 2000, and during his tenure he won multiple teaching awards, established the first formal sleep lab at the local VA medical center and was directly involved in development of the Internal Medicine Residency Program and Family Practice Resident ICU rotations.
After recognizing an unfilled need for outpatient pulmonary, allergy and sleep medicine care in the local community, Dr. Lucia opened Sierra Pulmonary & Sleep Institute in Sparks in 2002, and in 2006 moved the practice to a new, custom-designed, state of the art facility with a four bed AASM-accredited sleep center.
Dr. Lucia is currently certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine and Sleep Medicine. In 2000 he earned certification by the American Board of Sleep Medicine and became a fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

Cynthia L. Repella, MS, APN, AE-C
Cynthia is originally from Michigan where she earned her undergraduate BSN degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1989. In 1991 she moved to Reno, NV and worked at St. Mary's Medical Center predominately with pulmonary patients as a Medical Telemetry RN. She then worked as a Public Health Nurse for 6 years at the Washoe County Health Department with a strong focus on patient education.
Cynthia received a graduate degree and Nurse Practitioner training at the University of Nevada Reno in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program in 2002 where she earned "Outstanding Thesis Honor."
In 2003, she began work as an APN with Dr. Lucia at Sierra Pulmonary & Sleep Institute. During her 5 years at SPSC she has organized and implemented the center's Allergy Skin Testing and Immunotherapy program. She has also earned accreditation as a Certified Asthma Educator.
Cynthia has a strong focus on education for both the patients and staff at SPSC, and has been an active volunteer presenter for the TAR WARS program since 2006.

Cheryl Reed, MS, APN
Cheryl graduated from nursing school in 1981. She has over 20 years of experience in critical care, emergency and post-operative nursing. She moved to the Reno area in 1996 and worked as a registered nurse in the post anesthesia care unit at Renown Medical Center.
Cheryl completed her Masters of Science in Nursing and Nurse Practitioner training at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2007. She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Cheryl has received Sleep Medicine training through the American College of Chest Physicians.
She enjoys gardening, travel, and her grandchildren.
